Contestants should read their selections from a manuscript, and should hold that manuscript throughout their performance. It is recommended that the script be held in a small notebook. May students use props or costumes? No. WebIn preparation for the competition, students are required to read books from a specific list. Usually beginning in January student members meet regularly afterschool to discuss the books and practice answering questions about the characters, storyline, connections between other well-known literary works, and the literary devices used in the books.
